Starting point

Turn an 18-month programme into a controlled three-month rollout.

The Salvation Army planned a national move from legacy thin clients to new 10ZiG terminals. Four pilot sites in 2025 established the installation approach, but dependencies outside BNR’s control delayed the main start and significantly compressed the available delivery timetable.

01

An 18-month plan compressed

The pilots established a repeatable method, but the main challenge emerged when the expected 18-month window became a much shorter live programme. Equipment for every site arrived at BNR and had to be controlled centrally. Each engineering team needed enough of the correct terminal models, peripherals and three display-cable options for its route, while site availability, travel and unforeseen conditions continued to change.

02

The preparation behind each van

BNR decanted the equipment from its retail packaging and created reusable deployment crates, each carrying eight terminals with keyboards, mice, headsets, webcams and the required cable options. Multiple office team members prepared and allocated the stock before vans left, reducing unpacking and decision time on site. Engineers then replaced legacy devices, configured network settings when required, tested login, connectivity and Microsoft Teams calls, checked webcams, microphones and headsets, supplied user guides and completed handover. BNR also managed the central asset tracker from stock through commissioning, logging every installed and removed device and recording printers found on site.

03

122 sites completed on time

The four pilots and 118 main-rollout sites were completed by early May 2026: 122 locations overall. Approximately 800 10ZiG terminals were installed and tested, while around 800 legacy terminals, keyboards and mice were decommissioned and returned for disposal or repurposing. The time invested in central preparation proved critical—it shortened on-site activity and enabled the engineering teams to meet a deadline that senior client leadership had considered extremely difficult.
