Starting point

Equip one central location to monitor critical service issues.

Dell restructured its service operation so that issues affecting tier-one business-critical customers could be monitored from a central location. The new command centre required a coordinated mix of Dell and third-party technologies within defined specifications, deadlines, budgets and support expectations.

01

The gaps outside Dell’s own range

Dell could supply part of the command-centre technology itself. The gap lay in the specialist products outside its own range. An external team had to interpret the remaining brief, find credible options and balance specification, deadline, budget and support. The different items also had to arrive ready to form one installable environment—not as unrelated purchases from several suppliers.

02

One coordinated procurement package

BNR researched the specialist technologies outside Dell’s own product range and used its international supply network to find credible options. Products were checked against the technical requirement, availability, price and support expectations before selection. BNR negotiated supply and brought the furniture, workstations, displays, IT hardware and communications equipment together as one procurement package.

03

Ready by Dell’s deadline

All equipment was supplied by Dell’s required 2007 deadline and the selected products met the operational brief. Searching internationally widened the available options and helped Dell balance specification, availability and cost without managing a separate supplier search for every specialist item.
