Starting point

Create a reliable record of every container entering and leaving the port.

At a busy container port, entry and exit gates had to process vehicles efficiently while recording container condition and directing drivers accurately. Without clear evidence at the gate, damage disputes were difficult to resolve and records could become incomplete or inconsistent.

01

What happened before the gate

A container could arrive with existing damage, acquire damage later or leave the port with its condition disputed. Resolving that after the event was difficult without a consistent photographic record. At the same time, every additional manual step at the gate risked slowing vehicles and creating congestion, while drivers still needed accurate directions within the port.

02

Linking images to movement records

In 1996, DPM Systems Ltd delivered a container-gate system spanning multiple entry and exit gates at the port. The system combined movement records with photography at the point of transit, creating evidence of container condition as vehicles entered and left. Gate information also supported the processing and direction of drivers through the operating site.

03

Clearer evidence, faster processing

The gate operation gained clearer evidence for resolving container-damage questions and more accurate movement records. Processing became faster, while drivers received better directions for the next stage of their visit. Connecting photography, records and gate workflow reduced reliance on incomplete recollection after a disputed movement.
